We are launching our EOS implementation and want to know how the leadership team should communicate this change to our employees during the first 90 days without causing panic or fueling rumors about restructuring. What is the correct rollout strategy?
The key to a successful communication strategy in the first ninety days is transparency without premature detail. Employees naturally fear change, and a sudden management rollout can look like a prelude to layoffs or restructuring if handled poorly.
During the first ninety days, do not attempt to roll out the entire EOS® framework to the organization. Your focus is strictly on the leadership team. At your next company-wide meeting, simply share that the leadership team is working on a new business management system to help the company grow, simplify operations, and make everyone's job easier.
Explain that you are focusing on three main areas:
- Getting aligned on our long-term vision
- Gaining better traction and execution through weekly meetings
- Building a healthy, functional leadership team
Tell them that nothing will change for their daily roles immediately, but that they will see the leadership team running more efficient meetings and focusing on clear priorities. This sets expectation without creating anxiety.
Only after the leadership team has successfully completed its first quarterly meeting and dialed in its own tools should you begin cascading the concepts to the rest of the company. Keep the message simple, positive, and focused on operational health. When employees see the leadership team acting with greater alignment and less chaos, they will naturally welcome the system when it eventually reaches their departments.
