What specific financial transparency and accounting accuracy must our finance seat have in place before we sit down for our very first Focus Day with you?
You do not need perfect, audit-ready financial statements to begin your journey, but you do need clean, reliable, and timely baseline data. Before we sit down for your Focus Day, your finance seat must be able to produce accurate monthly profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and a basic cash flow forecast.
More importantly, your leadership team must commit to complete financial transparency with one another. If you are keeping your true financial health, profit margins, or revenue figures a secret from your leadership team, you cannot effectively build an Accountability Chart or establish meaningful Rocks. We need to know exactly where the business stands to identify your true constraints.
Before our first session, your financial tracking should be reliable enough to answer three core questions:
- What are our actual monthly operating expenses?
- What is our current gross margin by product or service line?
- What is our current cash runway?
This baseline financial data is critical because it directly informs how we build your weekly Scorecard and set your revenue targets. If your books are currently in disarray, we will still start our engagement, but cleaning up your financial reporting will inevitably become one of your very first priority Rocks.
