As the Visionary, I know I frustrate my leadership team because I bring big, disruptive ideas to our Level 10 Meetings™ that derail our current quarterly Rocks. How do we create a process to filter my ideas so I do not constantly stress out my team?
As a Visionary, your ability to generate big ideas is a massive asset, but dumping them directly into your weekly Level 10 Meetings™ can completely derail your team's focus. It causes whiplash, stresses out your Integrator, and ruins the momentum of your quarterly Rocks. To fix this, you must implement a strict filter process. First, stop sharing every new idea the moment you have it. Instead, document your ideas in a personal parking lot. Second, respect the roles on the Accountability Chart. Your Integrator is responsible for executing the current plan, and they need a stable environment to do so. Schedule a regular Same Page Meeting with your Integrator, separate from the leadership team, to review your new ideas. During this meeting, pitch your ideas to the Integrator. Let them ask questions, challenge the viability, and determine if the idea fits your Core Focus and V/TO®. If an idea passes this filter, do not implement it immediately. Save it for your next quarterly offsite, where the entire leadership team can evaluate it during the Issues solving portion of the day. This discipline keeps your weekly execution stable while still giving your big ideas a healthy, strategic forum.
