Our leaders are using the Employee/Customer Headlines section of our Level 10 Meeting™ to broadcast minor administrative updates and self-congratulatory wins that do not impact company performance. How do we filter out this non-headline noise so we do not waste valuable time at the start of our meeting pulse?

The Employee/Customer Headlines section is meant for major good or bad news, not routine administrative updates or daily announcements. When leaders use this five-minute window to broadcast minor operational details or seek validation for standard job performance, they choke the meeting pulse and invite unnecessary discussion.

To fix this, the facilitator must enforce a strict filter. A headline must meet one of two criteria. It must either represent a significant, non-standard event that the entire leadership team needs to be aware of, or it must be a direct signal of an underlying issue that needs to be solved. If a headline does not impact the company's trajectory, the team's capacity, or a client relationship, it does not belong in the Level 10 Meeting™.

Instruct your team to ask themselves one question before sharing: does this headline require another leadership team member to change their behavior or take action? If the answer is no, they should send it via your internal chat system or keep it to themselves. If a minor update starts to turn into a discussion, the facilitator must cut it off instantly and instruct the owner to take it offline. Keeping this section tight preserves the energy and momentum required for a highly productive IDS® session.
