Our weekly Level 10 Issues List is so cluttered with minor operational items that we never get to the critical issues that are actually blocking our quarterly progress. How do we aggressively filter our weekly list?

A common trap for leadership teams is letting the weekly Level 10 Meeting™ Issues List grow to thirty or forty items, which dilutes focus and causes decision fatigue. This clutter happens when the team fails to compartmentalize their issues correctly. If your weekly list is overwhelmed, you are likely mixing long-term strategic opportunities with short-term operational hurdles. To clean up this clutter, you must ruthlessly enforce the boundary between short-term issues and long-term issues. If an issue does not need to be resolved this week, or even this quarter, it does not belong on your weekly Issues List. It belongs on page two of your V/TO® as a long-term issue to be tackled at your next quarterly session. The facilitator should review the Issues List and purge any items that are not immediate priorities. During the meeting, if an issue is raised that is actually a strategic pivot or a major structural change, park it on the V/TO® immediately. Keep your weekly Issues List lean and focused exclusively on the immediate operational hurdles blocking your weekly progress, scorecard metrics, or quarterly Rocks.
