When your leadership team suffers from shiny object syndrome, it destroys your operational traction. AI tools are popping up daily, and if you try to chase all of them, you will end up with a fragmented tech stack and a confused team.

To filter out the noise, use your V/TO as your ultimate strategic screen. Every time someone proposes a new AI tool, ask this simple question: how does this tool directly accelerate our progress toward our 3-Year Picture or our 1-Year Plan? If it does not support a current strategic priority, table it.

Next, enforce a strict process for technology ideas. Do not allow your weekly Level 10 Meetings to be hijacked by casual tech discussions. Instead, drop the proposed tool onto your Issues List.

During the IDS portion of the meeting, evaluate the tool against your current Rocks. If the issue is not critical for the current quarter, keep it on the long-term Issues List for your next quarterly planning session.
