Our weekly scorecard review takes fifteen minutes because half our leadership team updates their numbers during the Level 10 Meeting instead of beforehand. How do we establish a strict discipline to ensure our scorecard is ready for a five-minute review?

Your weekly scorecard review will never take less than five minutes if your leadership team is treating the Level 10 Meeting as a data-entry session. The scorecard is designed to be a diagnostic tool for quick review, not an administrative task to complete while someone else is speaking.

To fix this, you must implement a strict pre-meeting discipline. Establish a firm deadline for scorecard updates, such as twenty-four hours before the meeting starts, or at a minimum, two hours prior. If a leadership team member fails to update their numbers by the deadline, the metric is marked as red or missing.

During the meeting, do not allow them to lookup or enter the number. Instead, drop the issue down to the IDS portion of the meeting. This is not a data issue; it is an accountability and behavior issue. When a leader has to explain to the team why their metric is red simply because they did not enter the data on time, the behavior corrects itself quickly. Ensuring the scorecard is completely populated before the meeting allows the team to scan the data, spot the red metrics, and drop them to IDS in under five minutes.
