Our leadership team has several high Fact Finder conative profiles who constantly stall our IDS sessions by demanding more data before we can solve an issue. How do we prevent this analysis paralysis?

When your leadership team has high Fact Finder conative profiles, your weekly IDS® sessions can easily grind to a halt. These analytical individuals instinctively believe they need more information, deeper research, and exhaustive analysis before they can agree on a solution.

To keep your Level 10 Meeting™ on track, you must establish the rule that you do not need perfect information to solve an operational issue. Most business decisions can be made effectively with eighty percent of the data. Demanding one hundred percent certainty leads to analysis paralysis and missed opportunities.

When a high Fact Finder stalls an issue, ask them to define the specific piece of data that is missing and why it is critical. If the information is truly essential, assign a short-term action item to gather that data before the next meeting. If it is not critical, push the team to make a decision based on the available facts.

You can also use their natural conative strengths to your advantage. Assign them the task of validating the data definitions on your Scorecard. This allows them to focus their analytical energy where it matters, while keeping your weekly IDS® sessions focused on fast, decisive action.
