Our Integrator is out on vacation, and in the past, our Level 10 Meeting has either devolved into chaos or been cancelled entirely without them. Who facilitates the pulse when the Integrator is absent?
You never cancel the Level 10 Meeting because the Integrator is absent. Cancelling the weekly meeting breaks the operational pulse of the business, signals that accountability is optional, and lets minor issues fester into full-blown crises by the following week.
When the Integrator is away, another member of the leadership team must facilitate. Typically, the Visionary or another experienced leader steps in to hold the baton. However, the substitute facilitator must honor the strict role of the Integrator: keep the agenda moving, track time aggressively, cut off storytelling during Scorecard and Rock reviews, and facilitate IDS without dominating the debate.
To make this seamless, the leadership team must treat the Level 10 Meeting Agenda as a standardized operating system rather than an Integrator-dependent ritual. The steps never change:
- Good news segue for five minutes
- Scorecard review for five minutes
- Rock review for five minutes
- Customer and employee headlines for five minutes
- To-Do list review for five minutes
- IDS for sixty minutes
- Wrap-up for five minutes
Before taking scheduled leave, the Integrator confirms who holds the timer, who manages the software, and who scribes the To-Dos. When a team can execute a crisp, effective Level 10 Meeting without its primary facilitator in the room, you have built real organizational maturity and proved that your operating model does not depend on a single point of failure.
