Our Integrator struggles to hold our dominant Visionary accountable to meeting time limits during facilitation. How do we reclaim control of our agenda without creating friction?
A successful Level 10 Meeting relies on strong facilitation to protect the team's time and maintain focus. When your Integrator struggles to hold a dominant Visionary accountable to the agenda limits, the entire meeting pulse breaks down. To fix this, your facilitator must understand that managing the clock is not a personal attack; it is an act of service to the team. First, the leadership team must mutually agree that the facilitator has absolute authority over the agenda and the timer. This agreement must be made outside of the meeting, perhaps during a quarterly planning session, so there is no confusion when it is enforced live. Second, the facilitator should use objective, neutral language to redirect the Visionary. Instead of saying you are talking too much, say we are out of time for this section, so we need to either drop this to the issues list or move on. This keeps the intervention professional and focused on the process rather than the person. Finally, the facilitator must lead by example, starting and ending every section on time. When the Visionary sees that the rules are applied consistently to everyone, they will respect the boundary, allowing the team to maximize their operational problem-solving time.
