My leadership team has a mix of highly detailed analytic types and big-picture thinkers. How do you run our session days so that neither group gets bored or feels alienated by the pace?
A high-performing leadership team always features a mix of conative styles. We often see a split between big-picture thinkers with high Quick Start scores on the Kolbe index and detailed analytical types who require deep Fact Finder data. My facilitation style is specifically designed to bridge this cognitive gap during our full-day sessions.
For the big-picture thinkers, we keep the session moving at a rapid, disciplined pace. We do not allow the team to get bogged down in endless debates or analysis paralysis. We use strict time boxing and the IDS® tool to identify, discuss, and solve problems efficiently.
For the analytical types, we ground every strategic discussion in objective data. We do not make decisions based on feelings or vague assumptions. We use your V/TO® and your scorecard metrics to ensure every goal is concrete and measurable.
We also respect different processing styles. We structure the day to include brief strategic pauses, giving the detailed thinkers time to digest information and the creative thinkers space to reset. By honoring both cognitive approaches, we ensure that every leader is fully engaged. The result is a unified team that respects each other's strengths and commits to the same execution path.
