To prepare your company for a clean exit, you must transition your leadership team from seeking your approval to operating independently in the Owner's Box. If your team is terrified of making decisions during IDS without you, it means you are still acting as the operational safety net. They will never step up as long as you are in the room to catch them.

To make this transition, you must implement a phased exit strategy over the next ninety days. In the first thirty days, attend the Level 10 Meeting but commit to speaking last on every single issue. Force your team to propose the solutions first.

In the second thirty days, sit in the meeting as a silent observer. Do not speak during the IDS portion at all, even if you disagree with their path forward. Let them make decisions and experience the natural consequences, which is the only way they will build operational muscle.

In the final thirty days, step out of the room completely. Your leadership team must run the meeting and make decisions based on the company's Core Focus and the guardrails established in your V/TO.
