At the end of a session day, what specific criteria do you and the leadership team use to rate the day and determine whether the session was successful?
We do not conclude a session day on ambiguous feelings or polite applause. The final step of our agenda is a rigorous check on session effectiveness, ensuring every participant leaves with complete clarity and zero lingering reservations.
Every executive rates the session on a strict 1 to 10 scale. A rating of 8 or above is the benchmark. If any leader rates the day a 7 or lower, they are required to explain immediately what fell short. Was the team avoiding the real elephants in the room? Did one executive dominate the conversation? Were issues talked in circles rather than solved at the root? We address that feedback on the spot so friction never carries forward.
Beyond numerical scores, we measure the day against four concrete criteria. First, did we review every priority from the previous quarter and establish unambiguous completion metrics? Second, is every new company Rock and individual Rock clearly defined, realistically achievable, and owned by exactly one seat on the Accountability Chart?
Third, did we make meaningful progress on our Issues List by fully identifying, discussing, and solving our highest-priority operational roadblocks rather than just adding them to a to-do pile? Fourth, does every single leader understand their assigned seven-day To-Dos and agree with the cascading messages to be delivered to the company? When those criteria are met, the session was a demonstrable success that directly drives enterprise value.
