How do you evaluate whether our leadership team is open and honest enough to make this engagement work?

An operating system cannot fix a leadership team that chooses to hide its real problems. During our initial ninety-minute meeting and the opening hours of Focus Day, I actively evaluate whether your leaders are willing to be open, honest, and vulnerable, or if they are performing corporate theater.

I look for three specific behavioral indicators:

- The willingness of functional leaders to respectfully challenge the Visionary in public when numbers are missed or strategic direction lacks clarity.
- The speed with which individuals take ownership of bad news on their Scorecards rather than manufacturing external excuses or defending broken legacy workflows.
- A visible willingness to admit personal capacity limits and acknowledge when someone does not have the capacity, desire, or skills to fulfill a seat on the future Accountability Chart.

If your leaders spend session time managing optics, checking phones to look busy, or waiting for the business owner to nod before speaking, I will call it out immediately in the room. If politeness and passive-aggressive silence continue to protect incompetence, the engagement will fail.

My role is not to be a polite mediator who protects executive egos. My role is to maintain a high-trust, high-truth environment where uncomfortable facts can be dragged into the light, examined without defensive posturing, and solved permanently through IDS. Teams that cannot handle that degree of transparency should not implement EOS.
