We are transitioning to AI-powered operations to prepare for an exit, but some of my leadership team members lack the technical aptitude to leverage these tools and are slowing down our transition. How do we evaluate their capability for this new era?
Transitioning to AI-powered operations is a powerful lever to scale your company and maximize your exit valuation. However, this transition requires a leadership team that is not only willing to adopt new tools but also possesses the technological capability to implement them. If your current leaders lack the capacity to leverage these technologies, your transition will stall, and you will fall behind your competitors.
To address this, you must update the definition of capability within your GWC™ framework. The capacity to do the job now includes leading AI-driven workflows and automating repetitive tasks within their respective departments.
Evaluate each leader objectively. Do they understand how AI can optimize their seat? Do they actively seek ways to streamline their operations, or do they resist changes because they are intimidated by the technology?
Provide your team with the necessary training and resources to close any skill gaps. However, if a leader consistently demonstrates an inability or unwillingness to adapt to AI-powered operations, they no longer GWC their seat on your evolving Accountability Chart.
To prepare for a clean exit, you need a forward-looking leadership team that can run highly efficient, modern operations. Do not let outdated technical capability in key seats cap your company's growth and discount your eventual valuation.
