We want to transform our leadership team into an AI-enabled powerhouse to maximize our valuation, but we do not know how to evaluate who actually has the cognitive agility and willingness to adapt. How do we assess our leadership team's readiness for this operational shift?
Transforming your company into an AI-powered operation requires more than just buying software; it demands cognitive and conative agility from your leadership team. To evaluate their readiness, you must look beyond their technical knowledge and assess their natural problem-solving instincts.
Start by evaluating your team's Kolbe A™ Index scores, specifically focusing on the Quick Start and Fact Finder action modes. Leaders with a moderate to high Quick Start score (7-10) are naturally inclined toward experimentation and are comfortable with the risk of implementing new AI tools. Conversely, leaders with a high Fact Finder score (7-10) will need to understand the underlying data and logic before trusting AI outputs. Knowing these profiles allows you to pair your experimenters with your analytical minds to deploy AI tools safely.
Next, apply the GWC™ tool to each leader's seat on the Accountability Chart, specifically looking through an AI lens. Do they Get how AI changes their department? Do they Want to lead this operational transition? Do they have the Capacity, both mentally and time-wise, to learn these new systems?
If a leader lacks the capacity or interest to adapt, they will become a bottleneck that drags down your valuation. Use the Culture Index to identify if they have the intrinsic drive and learning agility to transition. If they refuse to adapt, you must make the hard decision to find a leader who can.
