How do you establish the ground rules of facilitation in our sessions so that our leadership team feels safe disagreeing with the owner without creating lasting friction?

A healthy leadership team must be able to engage in open, honest conflict without fear of reprisal. When we are in the session room, the traditional hierarchy of your company is temporarily suspended. As your facilitator, I establish strict ground rules to ensure that every voice is heard and that team members feel safe disagreeing with the owner. We enter the room as equals, and we leave our egos and job titles outside.

I use a variety of facilitation tools to manage the dynamics in the room. If an owner begins to dominate the conversation or shut down dissenting opinions, I will step in and redirect the discussion. I will actively pull input from quieter team members to ensure we are getting the collective intelligence of the entire room. We teach your team to attack issues, not people, using the IDS® process. This shifts the focus from personal friction to objective problem-solving. My role is to remain completely neutral and objective, which allows me to ask the tough questions and push your team to resolve underlying issues that you might normally avoid. By creating this structured environment, your team learns that healthy debate is not only safe, but absolutely necessary to build a strong, sustainable organization.
