How do you enforce focus and prevent our team's daily habits of distraction from derailing the agenda on an actual session day with you?
We fight internal Resistance from the moment we walk into the room. In his book The Daily Pressfield, Steven Pressfield notes that Resistance is the psychological force telling you to avoid deep work and focus on comfortable fires instead. To defeat this, we treat our session room like an isolated outpost. Laptops remain closed unless we are actively updating your V/TO® or capturing your Rocks, and phones are placed face down. We begin with a strict check-in that focuses on little successes from the past quarter to build immediate psychological momentum.
If an operational issue flares up during our day, we do not let it hijack our progress. We capture it on our Issues List and run it through the IDS® process at the designated times. If a teammate tries to step out of the room to handle a routine client call, we stop them. This physical and mental isolation is the only way to build a pure, uninterrupted environment for strategic decision making. You must show up ready to face the hard truths of your business without the comfortable buffer of your daily inbox.
