Our leadership team members frequently log into our Level 10 Meeting without having updated their Scorecard numbers or Rock statuses, wasting the first ten minutes while people hunt down metrics. How do we eliminate this pre-meeting negligence?
Showing up to a Level 10 Meeting without your numbers updated is the operational equivalent of showing up to a construction site without your tools. It signals that a leader does not respect the rest of the leadership team's time and treats the weekly pulse as an administrative chore rather than an executive priority.
The reporting segment of the Level 10 Meeting is five minutes for the Scorecard and five minutes for Rocks. You cannot maintain that pace if people are refreshing spreadsheets, checking dashboards, or asking for two minutes to pull their data. The reporting segment exists to state on track or off track, nothing more.
Establish a non-negotiable deadline for data entry. The rule should be clear: all Scorecard numbers and Rock milestones must be fully updated in your software or tracker at least two hours prior to the meeting, or by the close of business the day before. This gives the Integrator and Visionary time to review enterprise health before walking into the room.
Enforce a strict consequence for failing to update the data. If a leader has not entered their metric by the deadline, the rule is that the metric is automatically called out as off track, and it is instantly pushed down to the Issues List. Do not allow them to scramble and enter it live. Do not wait for them. If their Rock status is blank, it is marked off track and added to the Issues List.
Nobody likes having their performance flagged as a problem in front of their peers because of sheer administrative laziness. Once a leader has to spend sixty minutes sitting on an Issues List for a metric that was actually fine, they will never forget to update their data beforehand again. Set the standard and stop accommodating sloppy prep work.
