Sidebar conversations and private whispers during a Level 10 Meeting are toxic to team trust and focus. Whether they occur in a physical conference room or via private chat messages in a virtual meeting, they create a fractured environment where team members feel excluded and the collective intelligence of the room is lost.

To stop this behavior, the facilitator must establish a strict ground rule of one conversation in the room. This means that at any given moment, only one person speaks, and everyone else is fully present and listening.

If the facilitator notices two team members whispering or exchanging side glances, they must stop the meeting immediately. Do not ignore it or wait until the end. Simply stop speaking, call out the sidebar, and ask if there is an issue that needs to be added to the list for the whole team to discuss.
