Virtual meetings make it incredibly easy for leaders to slide into the background and check emails or message clients. When this happens, your Level 10 Meeting™ loses its high-energy pulse and turns into a waste of executive time. To kill this remote meeting waste, you must establish and enforce a strict virtual meeting protocol.

This starts with a hard policy of cameras always on, no exceptions. When cameras are on, people are visible, which naturally deters multitasking. Next, implement a strict no-tech rule for any software other than your EOS® tracking tool. Every leader must close all browser tabs, silence their messaging applications, and turn their phones on do-not-disturb before the meeting starts.

To make this self-policing, have your Integrator call out any lag in responses immediately. If you ask a leader a question and they require you to repeat it because they were looking at another screen, that is an immediate call-out. We must hold each other accountable to the Same Page pillar of our charter, which requires full presence.

Finally, shorten the administrative transition time. Keep the focus on solving, not typing. If your virtual meetings feel like a drag, it is because you are letting external noise creep into your ninety minutes. Treat the virtual meeting room with the exact same respect as a physical boardroom.
