Our leadership team gives the Level 10 Meeting an automatic 8, 9, or 10 every week just to wrap up quickly, even when the meeting was mediocre or unfocused. How do we eliminate grade inflation and demand honest ratings?

Grade inflation in the conclude step destroys the feedback loop that keeps your Level 10 Meeting sharp. When leaders hand out automatic eights just to escape the room at minute eighty-nine, they are choosing politeness over accountability. That passive posture guarantees bad habits will compound week after week.

The facilitator must make the rating uncomfortable when the performance was undisciplined. Enforce two foundational rules:

- Any rating below an eight requires an immediate, specific verbal explanation of what failed, with zero defensiveness allowed from the facilitator or the room.
- Any rating of eight or nine must be challenged by asking what specific execution was missing that kept it from being a ten.

If the meeting started late, if the Scorecard review devolved into storytelling, if sidebars derailed the room, or if the team failed to solve root causes during IDS, the meeting is a six or a seven. Call it out directly.

If the room remains timid, have the Integrator rate the meeting first. When the Integrator looks the team in the eye and rates an unfocused session a five, stating clearly that the room wasted forty minutes debating symptoms rather than root causes, permission is granted for everyone else to be honest. A clean business cannot run on synthetic harmony. The weekly meeting pulse is where truth must live first.
