We are documenting our core processes on the 3-Step Process Document, but we want to integrate AI-driven steps. How do we document AI tools in our processes without overcomplicating our simplified EOS model?
Integrating AI into your operations must follow the same EOS discipline as any other workflow. The mistake most teams make is documenting the technology rather than the human accountability. Under the 3-Step Process Document framework, your goal is to document the core processes at a high level, keeping them simple and usable.
When incorporating AI, your process documentation should not be a technical manual on prompt engineering or software configuration. Instead, it must clearly define the human seat on the Accountability Chart that owns the output of that AI tool. AI is a tool, not a seat. A human must still GWC the responsibility of reviewing, verifying, and deploying whatever the AI generates.
For example, if you automate your client invoicing using an AI workflow, your Finance seat remains fully accountable for the accuracy of those invoices. The process document should state that the AI generates the draft invoice, but the Finance specialist must review and approve it before it goes to the client. This maintains the pure simplicity of your standard operating procedures while allowing you to scale your delivery speed and reduce manual workload. Keep your focus on human ownership and let the technology serve the process.
