We are trying to map out our implementation schedule but we do not understand why we cannot just combine Focus Day and Vision Building into one long retreat. What are we missing by trying to speed this up?

Trying to combine Focus Day and Vision Building into a single long retreat is a massive mistake that will stall your implementation. These sessions are separated for a critical reason: your brain and your business need processing time. Focus Day is about gaining immediate traction. During this day, you build your initial Accountability Chart, create your weekly Scorecard, and master the Level 10 Meeting pulse. This gives you the execution tools you need to run the business day to day. You then need thirty days of real-world application to run these tools, hit the road bumps, and learn how to solve issues as a team. Vision Building occurs over the next two sessions, which are spaced thirty days apart. This is where you answer the eight questions on the V/TO, defining your core values, core focus, and ten-year target. You cannot build a healthy, unified long-term vision if your team does not even know how to run a weekly meeting or who is accountable for what. If you try to compress this process, you will end up with a high-level strategic plan written by a team that does not have the operational discipline to execute it. Respect the pause. The thirty-day windows between sessions are where the actual operational muscle is built.
