Our billable client services team and field technicians claim they cannot step away for a full 90-minute weekly Level 10 Meeting without killing billable utilization. Can a departmental Level 10 Meeting be shortened to 45 or 60 minutes, and what agenda adjustments are required?

For frontline and billable departmental teams, a compressed 60-minute Level 10 Meeting™ is acceptable, provided the structure and discipline remain intact. Compressing the meeting should never mean dropping the problem-solving portion. The pulse exists to fix operational breakdowns that silently destroy far more billable hours than a sixty-minute meeting ever could.

Do not shorten the meeting to 45 minutes. Forty-five minutes leaves virtually no time for IDS® after reporting, turning the pulse into a superficial status check. A focused 60-minute agenda works well using this time allocation:
- Segue: 3 minutes.
- Scorecard: 3 minutes.
- Rock Review: 3 minutes.
- Customer and Employee Headlines: 3 minutes.
- To-Do List: 3 minutes.
- IDS: 40 minutes.
- Conclude: 5 minutes.

To make a 60-minute departmental pulse work, the team must execute reporting with extreme brevity. Every number, Rock, and To-Do is reported in binary fashion without conversation. If a metric is off track or a client account is unstable, it drops straight to the departmental Issues List without comment. This leaves forty uninterrupted minutes for the team to identify, discuss, and solve the top one or two tactical issues dragging down field productivity.

Hold the meeting at the same day and time every week, ideally first thing Monday morning or late Friday afternoon to avoid disrupting core production hours. When frontline teams see that the meeting directly eliminates recurring frustrations and clears roadblocks, resistance to the time investment vanishes.
