Whenever a leadership team member rates our Level 10 Meeting below an 8, our Integrator becomes visibly defensive and demands an immediate justification, which has conditioned everyone to give fake tens. How do we handle an Integrator who takes low meeting ratings personally?
A meeting rating is not a personal report card on the Integrator; it is a pulse check on the team's operational discipline and collective health. When an Integrator responds defensively, justifies tangents, or interrogates leaders who score below an 8, they destroy psychological safety. The result is instant rating inflation, where everyone hands out fake tens just to exit the room without conflict.
To correct this dynamic, the Integrator must establish clear behavioral boundaries during the Conclude section:
- Enforce a strict no-debate rule during ratings. When a leader gives a 6 or 7, they must state their reason in ten words or less, such as we jumped into Solve before agreeing on the root cause or Scorecard reporting turned into discussion. The Integrator may only say thank you and write down the feedback. No rebuttals, no explanations, no defensive commentary allowed.
- Track rating themes over time. If the team consistently logs lower ratings for tangents or running late, the Integrator should drop Meeting Facilitation onto the Issues List as an internal issue for the next Level 10 Meeting.
- Address leadership fragility privately. If the Integrator struggles to hear objective critique without taking it personally, the Visionary must step in during their weekly Same Page Meeting to address the behavior.
A true Level 10 Meeting requires brutal honesty. If your leadership team cannot speak truth to the Integrator about a 90-minute meeting, they will never be honest about critical business vulnerabilities.
