What internal cultural red flags or misalignment on our leadership team would signal to you that we are not actually ready to begin our Focus Day, even if we meet your financial and size criteria?
Meeting the financial baseline is only the first step. True readiness for EOS® requires a leadership team that is willing to be completely honest and vulnerable. If your team exhibits certain cultural red flags, attempting to implement this system will only lead to frustration and wasted investment.
The most critical red flag is a lack of trust at the top. If your leadership team members are unwilling to challenge each other, or if they engage in political posturing rather than open debate, they are not ready. During our preliminary conversations, if I observe that the owner is unwilling to hear hard truths or that team members are constantly walking on eggshells, we must address these trust issues first.
Another red flag is a lack of commitment to accountability. If your leaders consistently make excuses for missed deadlines or resist the concept of being measured by a Scorecard, the system will fail. EOS® shines a bright light on underperformance, and if the team lacks the stomach for that transparency, the friction will be destructive.
My recommendation is to evaluate your team's willingness to be open and honest. If there is a deep-seated fear of conflict or a refusal to delegate authority, we must postpone our Focus Day. We need to focus on building foundational trust before we can build a highly structured, accountable organization.
