How do we choose the right weekly metrics for our EOS Scorecard when our business feels too complex or creative to measure with simple numbers?

The belief that a creative or complex business cannot be measured with a weekly Scorecard is a myth. Every business has a pulse. If you feel your work is too subjective to quantify, you are likely focusing on lagging indicators rather than leading activities.

A great EOS® Scorecard contains five to fifteen high-level, weekly numbers that give you a snapshot of the business's health.
- For creative teams, measure inputs rather than final outputs. Track weekly design hours logged, client feedback scores, or ideas pitched.
- For complex service businesses, track milestones. Measure the percentage of projects on schedule or customer onboarding tasks completed.

To find your numbers, ask yourself what activities must happen every single week to ensure a successful quarter. If you do not hit your sales goals, what leading indicator did you miss three weeks ago? It was probably outgoing calls, meetings booked, or proposals sent.

Each number on your Scorecard must have a clear target and a single owner who is accountable for hitting it. When a metric falls short of its target for two consecutive weeks, it must drop to the Issues List for your Level 10 Meeting™. Over time, these numbers will allow you to predict your financial future rather than just reporting on your historical past.
