Because AI dramatically reduces the marginal cost of producing new services, our leadership team is tempted to expand our product line into adjacent markets. How do we use our Core Focus on the V/TO® and Level 10 Meetings™ to filter these options so we do not dilute our resources and destroy our core business margins?

The greatest threat to a growing business is not a lack of opportunity, but shiny object syndrome. AI makes it incredibly easy to launch new products and enter new markets with minimal upfront cost. However, just because you can deliver a service does not mean you should.

To evaluate these new opportunities, look at the Core Focus on your V/TO®. Your Core Focus is your filter for decision-making. Ask your leadership team if this new AI-driven service aligns with your passion and your unique niche. If the opportunity falls outside your Core Focus, it is a distraction that will dilute your focus and split your team's energy.

If a team member brings a new product idea to a Level 10 Meeting™, do not dismiss it immediately. Instead, add it to the Issues list. Use the IDS® process to discuss whether the new service serves your existing target market or if it requires building an entirely new sales pipeline.

If the leadership team agrees the opportunity is too good to pass up, set a quarterly Rock to run a low-cost pilot program. This allows you to test the market demand without committing significant resources or distracting the entire company from your core revenue driver.
