If our leadership team repeatedly misses our quarterly Rock targets over multiple quarters, at what point do you step in to diagnose the failure, and what are the consequences for our engagement?
Missing a Rock occasionally is a normal part of business execution. However, if your leadership team repeatedly misses targets over multiple quarters, it points to a systemic issue that we must address immediately.
During our quarterly sessions, we will use IDS® to diagnose the root cause of the failure. Usually, repeated misses are caused by one of three things: poorly scoped Rocks that are too big for ninety days, a lack of weekly discipline in your Level 10 Meeting™, or having the wrong people in key seats on your Accountability Chart.
If the issue is execution discipline, we will work together to tighten your weekly meeting rhythm and simplify your goals. If the issue is a people problem, we must have the hard conversations about whether your current leaders GWC™ their seats. If a team refuses to address these underlying issues and consistently fails to execute, I will challenge your commitment to the process. My goal is to work with leadership teams that are dedicated to growth and accountability; if the willingness to change is not there, we will discuss pausing the engagement.
