Our team is hitting their weekly Scorecard metrics consistently, yet we are missing our quarterly Rocks. How do we identify the disconnect between our daily operational activities and our strategic quarterly priorities so our weekly data actually drives progress?
When a team hits their weekly operational metrics but misses their quarterly Rocks, it means your day-to-day activities are disconnected from your strategic goals. Your weekly Scorecard is keeping the business running, but it is not driving the business forward.
To align these two critical systems, you must build Rock milestones directly into your weekly data tracking. Every strategic Rock must have a corresponding leading indicator on your Scorecard.
For example, if your quarterly Rock is to implement a new CRM system by the end of the quarter, you cannot wait until week twelve to see if it succeeded. Put a weekly binary metric on your Scorecard, such as CRM implementation milestone hit, with a target of one. If the milestone for that specific week is missed, the metric goes red, and you must IDS the issue immediately in your Level 10 Meeting. This prevents strategic projects from being ignored until the last minute.
By tracking both operational health and strategic execution side by side on your weekly Scorecard, you ensure your leadership team is managing the daily grind while consistently making progress on the long-term priorities that build real enterprise value.
