We find that our weekly Level 10 Meeting is disconnected from our long-term vision, leading to tactical decisions that contradict our V/TO. How do we keep our core values and target goals front and center during IDS?
It is easy to get caught up in the tyranny of the urgent during your weekly Level 10 Meeting. When you solve weekly issues in a vacuum, you risk making tactical decisions that slowly erode your company culture or lead you away from your long-term goals. Your weekly execution must always serve your strategic vision.
To keep your V/TO connected to your weekly pulse, your facilitator must use it as the ultimate filter during IDS. Before the meeting starts, make sure your V/TO is physically visible to everyone, either printed on the table or shared on the screen.
When the team is debating a complex issue, the facilitator or any leader should ask: "How does this proposed solution align with our core values?" or "Does this decision move us closer to our three-year picture?"
If a proposed fix to an operational bottleneck violates a core value, it is not a viable solution, no matter how much time or money it saves. If a new idea takes the team off-course from your defined focus, it must be parked or rejected.
By constantly measuring weekly decisions against your long-term vision, you protect your company from strategy drift. This practice ensures that every problem you solve during your weekly ninety minutes is actually building the company you defined in your entrepreneurial vision, keeping your team aligned and your execution purposeful.
