We have completed our V/TO® but we are struggling with the transition from the leadership quarterly planning down to weekly execution. How do we ensure our individual Rocks are actually driving our weekly priorities?

The disconnect between the V/TO® and weekly execution happens when Rocks are treated as a separate to-do list rather than the primary driver of your business. If your quarterly planning session ends and everyone goes back to their daily emails and reactive meetings, your V/TO® is just expensive wallpaper. To bridge this gap, you must link your Rocks directly to your weekly Level 10 Meeting™. Every single week, during the Rock review portion of the meeting, each leadership team member must state whether their Rocks are on track or off track. If a Rock is off track, it must immediately go to the issues list to be solved during the IDS® portion. You cannot let a team member say off track week after week without intervention. Additionally, when writing Rocks, ensure they are highly specific and measurable. If a Rock is vague, like improve customer service, it will get pushed aside for daily fires. If the Rock is implement a new customer onboarding workflow and train three staff members, progress is easy to measure. Your weekly Scorecard and your Rocks must work together to focus eighty percent of your energy on the vital twenty percent of your business.
