We have multiple cofounders with equal equity who are starting to diverge on the long term vision of the company. Do we need to resolve our partnership disputes privately before we can begin our Focus Day with you, or is that alignment something we actually hash out during the session itself?
If your ownership team is fundamentally misaligned on where the business is going, you cannot build an effective leadership team. However, you do not need to resolve every partnership dispute before your first session. Part of my role is to help you IDS®, which stands for Identify, Discuss, and Solve, these exact strategic disagreements.
The V/TO® process forces these hidden conflicts into the light. We cannot scale a business or prep it for an exit if the owners are pulling in different directions. If the disagreement is about long term goals or organizational structure, we address it head on during the session day.
To make our time productive, you must agree on one thing before we start: a shared commitment to the EOS® process. If you both agree to let the tools dictate the answers, we can use the Accountability Chart and the V/TO® to align your interests. If there is deep personal animosity or legal disputes, resolve those with counsel first. For operational and strategic alignment, the session room is exactly where those debates belong.
