Your Chief of Staff can be a highly valuable asset in your EOS® journey, but we must be incredibly intentional about their seat on the Accountability Chart. A common mistake is allowing a Chief of Staff to sit in our session days simply as an observer or note-taker.

During our session days, there are no spectators. Everyone in the room must occupy a specific seat on the leadership team Accountability Chart and actively contribute to the discussion. If your Chief of Staff does not sit in a defining leadership seat, they should not be in the room. Their presence can disrupt the vulnerability and open communication required to resolve tough issues.

However, between sessions, your Chief of Staff plays a critical role in supporting execution. They can help you protect your white space, manage the administrative tracking of your Rocks, and ensure your Level 10 Meetings™ run like clockwork. They are the tactical engine that helps keep you accountable to your commitments.
