I want to transition from active CEO to sitting in the Owner's Box while my current COO steps up as the Integrator. How does our engagement with you facilitate this specific leadership handoff without disrupting the rest of the company?
Transitioning from active CEO to the Owner's Box is a major psychological and operational shift. We facilitate this transition systematically using the Accountability Chart and our quarterly sessions to ensure your leadership handoff is clean and free of friction.
We begin by clearly defining the separate roles of the Visionary and the Integrator. As the owner, you will transition into a pure Visionary seat, or exit the operational chart entirely to sit in the Owner's Box. We will explicitly map out the five major responsibilities of your new seat and define the boundaries of your authority.
Next, we define the Integrator seat for your COO. Your COO must fully GWC (Get It, Want It, Capacity to Do It) the Integrator role. During our session days, we establish the rules of engagement between you two, ensuring you do not bypass your Integrator to give direct orders to the staff.
We use our quarterly sessions to monitor this handoff. If you begin to backslide into operational management, I will call it out in the room and help you redirect.
By managing this transition within the structured framework of EOS, we protect the business from founder-interference. Your team gains clear leadership, your COO is empowered to run the daily operations, and you successfully achieve the freedom of ownership.
