When we solve an issue during our leadership Level 10 Meeting™ that requires action from a manager who is not in the room, the task often gets lost in translation. How do we cleanly transfer an issue or a To-Do from the leadership Level 10 Meeting™ down to a departmental Level 10 Meeting™?
A major point of failure in scaling companies is the gap between the leadership team and middle management. When decisions made in your leadership Level 10 Meeting™ do not transfer to departmental meetings, execution halts and alignment breaks down.
To solve this, use the cascade mechanism. During the wrap-up section of your Level 10 Meeting™, you review the Cascading Messages list. This is where you decide exactly what needs to be communicated to the rest of the organization.
If an issue solved at the leadership level requires a departmental team to take action, the owner of that department on the leadership team is responsible for cascading it. They must take that specific decision or To-Do and manually add it to their departmental Level 10 Meeting™ issues list before their weekly meeting.
Do not rely on casual conversations or emails to pass these tasks down. The department head must introduce the item during their departmental IDS® portion to explain the context, answer questions, and assign a local To-Do to the appropriate team member. This ensures a clean handoff and maintains the weekly meeting pulse throughout the organization.
