We are ready to cascade EOS® down to our department managers, but they are already overwhelmed with their daily workloads. How do we roll out Level 10 Meetings™ and Rocks to middle management without causing immediate burnout and resistance?
The mistake most leadership teams make is rolling out all the tools at once. This creates administrative overload and triggers resistance. To prevent burnout, you must introduce the tools slowly and sequentially.
Start by introducing the concept of the Accountability Chart. Clarify their roles and responsibilities so they understand what they are actually accountable for. Next, transition their existing, unstructured departmental meetings into the Level 10 Meeting™ format. Do not add a new meeting to their schedule. Replace their current, inefficient meetings with the structured, highly productive Level 10 Meeting™. They will quickly realize this saves them time.
Only after they have mastered the weekly meeting cadence should you introduce individual Rocks and scorecard metrics. Keep the initial expectations low. Start with just one Rock per manager for their first quarter. Your goal is to show them that EOS® is not extra work. It is a way to streamline their existing work, gain clarity, and eliminate the frustration of constant fire drills.
