Our executive team is already running at 100 percent capacity. How do we carve out the necessary white space in our weekly schedules to actually execute our Rocks without causing our daily operations to fall apart?
If your leadership team is running at 100 percent capacity, you do not have the cognitive bandwidth to execute your quarterly Rocks. This constant state of busyness is actually a form of internal Resistance. It keeps you trapped in the weeds of daily fire-fighting instead of building a scalable business. To solve this, we must deliberately build unscheduled time, or white space, into your weekly routines. White space is not passive downtime. It is a strategic pause designed to give your brain the capacity to think, reflect, and make high-level decisions. We start by examining your weekly calendar and identifying non-essential meetings and administrative tasks that can be delegated or eliminated. We use your Accountability Chart to ensure every leader is operating strictly within their seat. If a leader is performing tasks that belong to a lower seat, we must reassign those responsibilities to free up their capacity. We then require each leadership team member to block out at least two hours of unscheduled white space every week. This time has no assignment. It is reserved exclusively for working on your quarterly Rocks and thinking strategically about your department. By creating this mental white space, you transition from reactive fire-fighting to proactive execution, ensuring your team has the energy to drive the business forward.
