I am the Visionary and I still drive our entire product development roadmap based on my personal intuition, which is a massive red flag for buyers. How do we build a repeatable, market-driven product innovation framework before we go to market?
If your product development roadmap exists solely in your head, your business has extreme key-person risk. Buyers will not pay for personal intuition because they cannot replicate it once you leave the company. You must transform your intuition into a repeatable operational system.
Start by looking at your Accountability Chart. If you are sitting in both the Visionary seat and the product development seat, you must delegate the product development responsibilities. Define a clear seat for product management and fill it with someone who GWC the role.
Next, establish a market-driven process for product innovation. This core process should outline exactly how customer feedback, market research, and usage data are collected and analyzed to prioritize new features or services. It should not depend on your personal approval.
Bring these product development metrics onto your weekly EOS Scorecard. Track key leading indicators, such as feature adoption rates or customer feedback scores, to measure product performance objectively.
Use your Level 10 Meeting to IDS product development bottlenecks. When you transition the responsibility of product direction to a structured process managed by a capable team, you build institutional value. A buyer will see a business that can continuously innovate and grow long after the founder has walked away.
