Our quarterly planning sessions with our leadership team are always high-energy and inspiring, but within two weeks of returning to the office, everyone gets sucked back into daily operations and our momentum drops. How do we bridge the gap between the quarterly session and weekly execution?
The loss of momentum immediately following a high-energy quarterly planning session is a common failure point for teams running on EOS®. You leave the session with ambitious Rocks and clear alignment, only to be crushed by the avalanche of emails and daily fire drills waiting for you back at the office.
To prevent this drop-off, you must build an immediate bridge from your quarterly strategy to your weekly execution. The work does not stop when you walk out of the conference room.
Take these operational steps during the first week of the quarter:
- First, ensure every leader schedules their individual Rock planning time within forty-eight hours of the session. They must break their ninety-day Rocks down into weekly milestones.
- Second, dedicate the very first Level 10 Meeting™ of the quarter to reviewing these weekly milestones, ensuring everyone has a clear roadmap for the next twelve weeks.
- Third, update your weekly Scorecard immediately to reflect any new metrics required to track your quarterly progress.
By integrating your new quarterly goals into your daily calendar and weekly meetings within the first five business days, you prevent your Rocks from becoming passive aspirations. You turn them into immediate, actionable tasks before the daily grind can swallow your momentum.
