Our newly hired Integrator is trying to hold veteran department heads accountable to weekly metrics, but the department heads are banding together and freezing the Integrator out. How do we break this peer resistance and establish the Integrator's leadership?

This is an executive mutiny, and it survives only if you as the founder or Visionary allow it. Veteran leaders often feel threatened by an outsider holding them to objective standards, so they form a political bloc to protect their informal autonomy.

You must eliminate their ability to resist by completely backing your Integrator in public. Call an immediate, mandatory meeting with the full leadership team. Put the issue squarely on the table without euphemisms.

Make it explicitly clear that the Accountability Chart is final. State plainly that the Integrator has your complete authority to manage the business day to day, run the Level 10 Meetings, hold seats accountable to Scorecard metrics, and manage departmental performance. Tell the team directly that end-runs and passive freeze-outs will be treated as core value violations.

After that meeting, refuse to entertain any private complaints from the veterans. When a director comes to you to complain about the Integrator, ask one question: Have you discussed this directly with our Integrator? If the answer is no, escort them to the Integrator's office.

Some of your veteran leaders may choose to leave rather than submit to structured accountability. Let them. Keeping a passive-aggressive leader who sabotages your operational second-in-command will poison your culture and ensure your business never scales.
