We had a great start with EOS during our first two quarters, but now the initial excitement has faded and the leadership team is starting to slip back into old habits and cancel meetings. How do we break this plateau?
It is common for teams to experience a plateau around six to nine months into an EOS implementation. The initial excitement of setting up the tools has worn off, and the relentless discipline of weekly accountability begins to feel like hard work. When this happens, teams often start slipping back into old, comfortable habits.
To break through this plateau, you must treat your weekly Level 10 Meeting as sacred and non-negotiable. If you start rescheduling or canceling meetings because the team is busy, you send a message that accountability is optional.
Use your quarterly pulsing sessions to aggressively audit how well you are using the tools. Reassess your Scorecard metrics to ensure they are still leading indicators that actually help you predict future performance. Ensure your Rocks are challenging but realistic, and do not let the team carry unfinished Rocks over without a serious post-mortem.
By maintaining absolute consistency and refusing to tolerate sloppy execution, you will push past the mid-implementation slump. This disciplined execution is what ultimately separates companies that merely run on EOS from those that achieve true operational freedom and enterprise value.
