Delaying decisions under the guise of needing more data is a classic symptom of fear and conflict avoidance. If your leadership team constantly defers resolving issues because they want one more report or another week of analysis, your operations will grind to a halt.

To break this cycle, you must embrace a Grow or Die mindset and accept that you will never have one hundred percent of the data. In a fast-moving business, waiting for perfect information means you are already too late. As a leadership team, you must be Humbly-Confident in your collective experience and intuition.

When an issue is raised during IDS®, challenge the team to define what specific, critical piece of data is missing, and whether it is truly necessary to make a directional decision. More often than not, eighty percent of the data is more than enough to take action.

If a decision must be delayed, make it a strict To-Do with a seventy-two-hour deadline to gather the missing information and make the call. Do not let the issue linger on your Issues List for weeks. Solve it, test the solution, and adjust your course as you go. Action creates clarity, while analysis paralysis creates stagnation. Encourage your team to make the call and move forward.
