What are the behavioral red flags that tell you a leadership team is simply not ready to begin working with you, even if they have the budget and want to start immediately?

There are three clear behavioral red flags that tell me a leadership team is not ready for this journey. First, if the owner is looking for a magic bullet or an outside consultant to do the heavy lifting, we will fail. My role is to teach, facilitate, and coach. Your team must do the actual work of running the business. If you expect me to step in and manage your people, you are not ready.

Second, a lack of vulnerability is a dealbreaker. If your team members are defensive, hide mistakes, or refuse to engage in healthy, uncomfortable conflict during our initial conversations, they will not survive the brutal honesty of a Focus Day. We must be able to put every real issue on the table without fear of political fallout or hurt feelings.

Third, if the owner is unwilling to let go of the vine, the process stops before it starts. If you cannot tolerate your leadership team making decisions, challenging your vision, or fully owning their seats on the Accountability Chart, the system will break. We need absolute buy-in to the rule of the operating system over the rule of any single ego. If these red flags are present, I will tell you directly to save your time and money. We can reconnect when the leadership team is truly ready to submit to a structured process.
