Our leadership team gets distracted by every new AI tool our competitors launch, leading to constant pivot attempts. How do we keep our team focused on our 1-Year Plan during our Level 10 Meetings™?
Shiny object syndrome is the ultimate killer of traction, especially in the AI era. When your competitors launch new features, your team will want to react immediately, which threatens to derail your quarterly Rocks.
To maintain discipline, use your weekly Level 10 Meeting™ as your operational guardrail. When a leadership team member brings up a competitor new AI tool, do not let it derail your agenda. Immediately drop it down to the Issues list.
During the IDS® portion of your meeting, apply the V/TO® filter. Ask your team if this new technology aligns with your Core Focus and your 3-Year Picture. If it does not, archive it. Do not let external noise dictate your internal priorities.
If the tool does align with your strategy, assign a short-term To-Do to a single owner on your Accountability Chart to research it and report back next week. If it requires a major strategic pivot, hold it for your next Quarterly Pulsing session.
By maintaining this strict discipline, you prevent your organization from constantly shifting resources. Remember, consistency and execution beat half-baked technology pivots every time. Keep your focus on your Rocks and let your competitors exhaust themselves chasing every new software update.
