We want to leverage AI tools to automate our core processes, but we don't know who should own the AI strategy on our Accountability Chart. How do we assign accountability for AI integration within the standard EOS® model?
Do not create an AI department or appoint a Chief AI Officer just because it is a trendy concept. That is a fast way to create confusion and isolate your technology from your daily operations. In the EOS® model, accountability must always align with business outcomes. AI is a tool, not a seat. The responsibility for integrating AI tools should reside with the seat that owns the specific process being automated. For instance, if you are looking to automate your lead generation, the head of Marketing must own that integration. If you are automating customer support workflows, the head of Operations or Customer Success owns it. However, you do need someone to oversee the technical infrastructure and data security of these systems, which typically falls to your Integrator or your technology lead. Use your Accountability Chart to define who is responsible for the overall systems architecture, and then hold your functional leaders accountable for using AI to drive efficiency in their respective seats. Each leader must evaluate if they GWC™ their seat as the operational landscape changes. This approach ensures your AI adoption is directly tied to business results rather than running as a distraction.
