We want to transition to AI-powered operations, but none of my current leadership team members have AI in their job descriptions or background. How do we assign accountability for automation across our leadership seats without creating confusion?

You do not need to hire an expensive, external Chief AI Officer to start running AI-powered operations. Doing so often creates a siloed department that struggles to integrate with your existing workflows. Instead, you must weave automation accountability directly into your current leadership seats on the Accountability Chart.

Every leadership team member must own the automation of their own department. Your VP of Marketing must own marketing automation. Your VP of Operations must own operational automation. Your Head of Finance must own financial automation.

To make this clear, update the roles and responsibilities for each seat on your Accountability Chart. Add a specific role such as continuous process automation or AI integration to each leadership seat. This ensures that scaling and automating are not treated as special projects, but as core accountabilities of running a department.

Next, use the GWC filter to assess your current leaders. Do they have the capacity to learn and implement these new tools? They do not need to be software developers, but they must possess a Grow or Die mindset and a willingness to eliminate manual, repetitive tasks. If a leader resists automation because they are afraid of losing relevance, they are violating Our Charter and holding the business back from a clean exit.
