We are rapidly integrating AI into our customer service and operations, but we do not have a formal IT department or CTO. How do we assign accountability for these new automated workflows on our Accountability Chart without overloading our already busy Operations seat?

When you integrate automated workflows and AI tools into your business, you cannot leave them floating without human accountability. Even the most advanced AI systems require a human seat to own their performance, prompt logic, and integration.

If you do not have an IT department, you should not dump this entire load onto an already overworked Operations seat. Instead, look at where the output of the automation actually occurs. If the AI is handling customer service inquiries, the head of your Customer Service seat must be accountable for the tool's performance and accuracy.

Alternatively, you can create a dedicated sub-seat, such as an AI Systems Coordinator, that reports directly to your Integrator or Operations leader. This seat is responsible for maintaining the system prompts, monitoring tool uptime, and training the team on AI usage.

The critical rule on your Accountability Chart is that every automated process must roll up to a human name. The person in that seat must GWC the technology and be held accountable for its metrics on your weekly scorecard. Never let automation become an excuse for a lack of personal accountability when things break.
