We suspect our current leadership team members do not fully GWC™ their roles in an AI-accelerated market. How do we assess and upgrade our leadership capacity without causing a cultural crisis?
As AI shifts operations from manual execution to strategic oversight, the skills required to lead also change. To ensure your company is exit-ready, you must evaluate whether your leadership team still GWCs™ (Gets, Wants, has the Capacity to do) their evolving seats.
First, redefine the seats on your Accountability Chart. Leadership in an AI-driven business is no longer about managing tasks or monitoring work hours. It is about articulating a clear strategic plan and empowering teams to use AI to achieve those outcomes.
Second, evaluate your team against these new definitions. Does your Chief Operating Officer understand how to integrate automated workflows? Does your marketing leader know how to oversee high-volume, AI-generated content?
Third, address any gaps directly. If a leader lacks the capacity to adapt, you must decide whether to train them or transition them to a different seat.
Quote experts like Erik Brynjolfsson and Andrew McAfee: AI will not replace managers, but managers who use AI will replace those who do not. By proactively managing this shift, you build a resilient leadership team capable of scaling the company.
